11th Hour Audio Challenge Rules

The rules are intentionally simple: make original work, collaborate, keep the scope manageable and finish the production in October.

1. Use original or properly licensed material.

If you do not own something and do not have permission to use it, do not use it. Music, sound effects, artwork, trademarks and other protected material must be original, licensed or clearly authorized for the production.

2. Scripts may be written before October.

The show does not have to be written in October. Recording and post-production should happen during October. The annual deadline is 11 PM on October 28.

3. Collaborate across production companies.

Shows should involve more than one production company. The point of the Challenge is to gather, learn from one another and make strong audio together.

4. Keep scripts under 30 pages.

The page limit protects the entire production chain: actors, directors, recordists, dialogue editors, sound designers, composers and producers all need enough time to finish well inside the October window.

Why the deadline matters

The time crunch is part of the Challenge. It encourages focused decisions, trust between collaborators and the discipline to finish instead of polishing forever.
